Will the tungsten-carbide Lord of the Rings ring scratch?

Tungsten-carbide is very hard and almost impossible to scratch. However, gold-plating is not that hard and will wear out or scratch over time, slowly revealing the silvery-grey color of the tungsten-carbide below.
