Does the elvish translator just show English in elvish font?

Not quite - it is not a straight letter for letter font change, the elvish translator is what is called a transliterator and takes english alphabet (or more precisely latin or roman alphabet characters) and transforms them into accepted equivalent characters in Sindarin elvish. There have been some subtle changes to improve the quality of the translation the elvish translator gives. Although human translation is the only way to be completely accurate the changes were designed to make our automatic translator tool better.
